HISTORY

tarted in 1970 by two cross-country runners, the original Power House was a small hutch restaurant with ten barstools and two small tables, serving the first smoothies in Winter Park. In 1998, Chris Bassil acquired the restaurant, changed the name to the Power House Café, and expanded the building and menu to better serve customers. Six months after the change in ownership, the NY Times selected the Power House Café as one of the best places to eat in Winter Park (view article).
The Power House Café, the oldest restaurant in Winter Park, is run by the Bassil family – Chris, George, and their parents Peter and Teresa. Everyone is welcome, from celebrities that have visited the restaurant to local families and professionals. The Power House has employed many students from nearby Rollins College, providing them with flexible scheduling and a good source of income.
Healthy meals, delicious smoothies and friendly service keep customers coming back to this unique spot. Homestyle recipes include Mediterranean-inspired dishes, fresh salads, and creative sandwiches. The Power House Café uses only the freshest ingredients and makes just enough food for the day, ensuring that every meal served is both delicious and health-conscious.
